We had a great holiday season. Both sets of grandparents were here to enjoy the holidays with us so we feel very blessed. This Christmas was especially fun with Sawyer. He gets so excited about EVERYTHING Christmas...the lights, the trees, the decorations, the pretty packages, the cookies (we made sugar cookies), the visiting family etc It's been amazing to experience Christmas through the eyes of a two year old. (Kind of like being a kid all over again.)
Griffin is doing great. His sleeping habits are a little rough, but he's doing good otherwise. At his one month check-up he had gained 3 lbs! He may have started out small, but he is catching up with his big brother quickly. He jumped from the 10th percentile at birth to the 25th percentile! Yikes! No wonder I feel so drained, this kid eats constantly. Griffin is also starting to smile, which is nice. We now get a little reward for our efforts.
Sawyer is still adjusting to Griffin. He's having to learn what it really means to be "gentle". (He's a little heavy handed at times.) Sawyer loves to tell me when the baby is crying, as if it somehow escaped my attention. (Nothing like a crying baby AND a two year old announcing this to you over and over again until the crying stops.) He loves to "bring Griffin a kiss" on his baby head which leaves poor Griffin sticky and wet most of the time. Oh well, I imagine there are siblings out there that survived much worse. Lets just hope that's as bad as it gets!
John and I are doing good. He had two weeks off over the holidays, which was really nice. I have been home since Griffin was born and will be home until mid-March. I have managed to get a few projects done around the house, but it's slow going. I'm mostly just trying to get things organized so that life will be a little less hectic when I return to work. Overall, the time off has been great. I'm extremely grateful that my company has such a liberal maternity leave policy. (Albeit I'm not getting paid anymore, they at least keep my job for me and cover our benefits.) Keep your fingers crossed for us that Griffin settles into a solid sleep schedule before I go back to work!
We hope everyone had a great holiday season. We wish you and your families all the best in 2010!
Love,
The Wellhouse Family
(John, Andrea, Sawyer and Griffin)
