Spring has come and gone as fast as the strawberries. (Which were delicious, by the way, in case you couldn't tell by the drippy chins!) We managed to take a day in April to head to the zoo. The boys were more engaged by the statues of animals than the animals themselves! I guess that's to be expected since they've already seen their fair share of wildlife at Grandma Heide's house. We did have a close encounter with an ostrich. (From what I gathered, ostriches are the "goat" of the zoo...nosy and into everything!) The baboons with their red hineys were pretty cute. Especially when another zoo goer announced "Boy, you better get over here or I'm gonna make you look like that baboons butt!!!
Nice. (The other visitors at the zoo were also quite entertaining.)
At the end of April, John and I made a trip (sans children) to Nashville. I thought John might like to check out the country music scene and I had a half-marathon to run. It worked out well on both fronts and I think we left Nashville with an appreciation (if not a true love) for all that is country. Live music, rowdy bars, fancy boots and cowboy hats! Yeee-haaaw!
A note on the half-marathon: This was one of the Rock-n-Roll Marathon series so there were live bands all along the course and a concert at the end. (Rodney Atkins & Glorianna) The race was CRAZY crowded (31,000 people) and hot/humid/hilly. (The Triple H...eeewwww!) BUT it was a LOT of fun. I ran with some great people and had a blast. AND I shaved 10 minutes off my previous half-marathon time. (Granted, I had a LOT of room for improvement!)
Hope you are all having a great spring/summer. I'll be posting our beach blog soon so keep checking back!
Love,
The Wellhouse Family
