Ok - so it's REALLY been a while since I updated the blog. This one starts in June and runs through August. As you saw in the first few pics, John got a Big Green Egg for Father's Day. We've had a great time smoking/grilling just about everything imaginable. John is quite proficient at using the Egg and is quickly becoming a pretty good cook. (I must admit, it was a slightly selfish gift...now I have him sharing the cooking duty on weekends!)
We took our first road trip with the boys (and Grandma & Grandpa Wellhouse) to Ryan Weaver's wedding in Arlington VA. Although the boys were very good about the long car ride (6 hours with traffic), I don't want to do it again anytime soon. Three hours is about my max until the boys are bigger and more easily entertained. Ugggghhh. We went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural Science to see the dinosaurs. Sawyer was pretty impressed. The wedding was beautiful and John gave a hilarious roast, I mean toast, at the reception. I never knew what a comedian John could be! AND I never knew what a little dancer Sawyer could be! From the time the bride/groom/parents finished their dances until we left (over 2.5 hours), Sawyer only left the dance floor for water and wedding cake (of course)!
Griffin is now 9 mths old. I can hardly believe it. He has four teeth now and the others are rapidly approaching. He has started crawling and is VERY busy. Griffin just moves from one thing of interest to another. I don't think he stops until he is sleeping. Quite the intense little character, but still jolly and easy going. AND he still has those big baby blues...they might be there to stay.
Sawyer started preschool in August. He now goes 5 days a week so Grandma Heide (who watches Griffin every day) can get a little down time. Sawyer is doing well and loves to go to "school". He is learning all the sounds letters make and words that start with each letter. He is learning a lot more spanish too. He officially knows more colors than I do. He pretends to read now too. He'll tell me what he thinks something says by looking at the pictures. For example, he'll point to the bag of DumDums and tell me that it says "We should eat more candy". Hmmmmm.
Other than that, John and I are both doing well. No complaints. Just busy and happy with two great little boys. Oh, and for the record, you may have noticed that pics of Griffin are starting to outnumber pics of Sawyer. Well, its not because we love Griffin more or because he's the cute new baby...Sawyer pretty much refuses to pose for pictures anymore. It's hit or miss with him. SO enjoy the pics of Sawyer since the good ones are few and far between. (Its not for lack of trying!)
Hope you are all having a great summer!
Love,
John, Andrea, Sawyer and Griffin
