Easter Time with the Boys

Sawyer and the Easter Bunny!

Sawyer waiting patiently for the Lake Benson Easter egg hunt to begin.

Griffin and Daddy

Griffin checkin out the blue tractor
(It seems like little boys are genetically drawn to anything with wheels!)

Griffy bounced himself to sleep!
(I swear he was only in there for about 15 minutes!)

At least he's happy about his sleeping arrangement ; )

Sawyer showing us the Easter eggs he dyed

Sawyer and his latest creation, Noodle Man!

Close-up of Noodle Man, he's pretty cute...

Momma and the boys huntin' Easter eggs in the front yard

Stoppin to smell the tulips!

Sawyer practicing his scary face!
(Brought to us, in part, by a chocolate Easter bunny!)

Sawyer catches his first fish with Grandpa Wayne!
(They also brought home some very large catfish, which made for a tasty lunch.)

I'm never sure where to begin. We've had a great spring so far. The weather has been cooperative and we've tried to get outside as much as possible. Easter was fun for Sawyer, every year he's able to participate in more of the festivities.

I was so excited that Sawyer was able to have his first fishing trip with Grandpa Wayne. I only wish I could have been there to see it. Grandma Heide took the pics, but it's just not the same.

As for Griffin, obviously, there isn't much he can do yet. He enjoys just watching all the activity around him. Griffin is such a happy, happy baby. Truly. We thought Sawyer was our easy child, but Griffin is definitely giving him a run for his money. I guess that's a great problem to have! Although, I have a feeling once Griffin can get around on his own...he'll be a force to be reckoned with. When he sees something he wants, even now, he tries with his whole body to get it. It's kind of crazy when a 4.5 month old is literally crawling out of your arms to get closer to WHATEVER it is that strikes him. (It's usually something his brother is playing with...that could spell trouble down the road!) I'm not sure what he thinks he's going to do once he gets there, considering he can't even sit up yet, but he sure tries hard to get at it.

I guess that's it for now. We'll keep you posted on our summer activities. We're really looking forward to summer and, more specifically, summer foods...strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Take care,
Andrea, John, Sawyer and Griffin

Sawyer holding baby Griffin (very tightly)!

Sawyer celebrated his 3rd birthday several times, four to be exact. (We also had a little get-together with his Aunt Jonette, Uncle Craig, and cousin Cole.) It's hard to believe he is already three. Although, for a three year old, he is amazingly independent. He dresses himself (most of the time), uses the big potty (even at night) and has been doing this for almost 6 months, gets his own snacks, and climbs in/out of his carseat/booster seat by himself. He also gets up in the middle of the night to turn his fish tank light off and put on a pair of socks because he's cold. (Incidentally, he'll also put a pair on his hands if they are cold too.) He uses a fork, spoon and cup. (We're still working on table manners, as you can see from the photos!) He knows his ABCs, visually recognizes most letters and numbers, and can spell his first name. He knows all his colors (some in spanish), can count to 20 (some in spanish), and has completely memorized most of his night time books (Truck Stuck is his favorite). Truly amazing what a little sponge he is!

Physical stats: At his 3 year check-up he was 36 lbs and 39 inches long. That puts him in the 90th percentile for both height and weight.
